Literacy Morning Tubs:
☼ Christmas Tree CVC Match:
Your students will select a puzzle piece with a CVC word and read the word. They will then find the puzzle piece with the picture of the word and match the two pieces together to make a Christmas tree.
☼ Christmas Cookie Onset & Rime Match
Your students will select a cookie sheet picture card and identify the picture on it. They will then find the two Christmas cookie cards for the onset and rime and match them to the cookie sheet.
☼ Christmas Picture & Sentence Match
Your students will select a sentence and read it. They will then find the picture that describes the sentence. Your students will attach the sentence and picture together using connect links.
☼ Christmas Letter Syllable Sort
Your students will select a Santa bag card, identify the picture, and count the number of syllables in the word. They will then place the Santa bag card on the correct Elf syllable card (1-4.)
☼ Real & Nonsense Christmas Light Word Sort
Your students will select a Christmas light word card and read the word on it. They will then identify the word as real such as “red” or silly like “zog” and place the card on the correct mat.
Math Morning Tubs:
☼ Christmas Ornament Shape Sort
Your students will select a shape ornament card and identify the shape. They will then place the ornament on the correct Christmas tree mat.
☼ Christmas Tree Roll & Cover
Your students will roll a die and count the number of dots. They will then find that number on the Christmas tree and cover it up using a marker. There are also “Plus 1,” “Minus 1,” and “Plus 10” game boards too.
☼ Adding to 10 Christmas Trees
Your students will select a Christmas tree addition mat and count the number of ornaments on the tree. They will then use pom poms, two-color counters, mini erasers, or other counting manipulative to add on to 10.
☼ Christmas Light Number Sequence
Your students will select a Christmas Light Number Sequence card and determine the missing numbers in the sequence. They will the write the missing numbers using a dry erase marker.
☼ Gingerbread House Counting Clip Cards
Your students will select a card and count the number of gumdrops. They will then place a clothes pin on the number.
